KVSS Community Health Program (CHP) is currently accepting applications for in-home caregivers throughout Kanawha County. CHP helps keep seniors and disabled individuals in the place they are most comfortable- their home. Caregivers are trained in CPR, First Aid, and care-giving skills to assist with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and necessary errands. Direct Personal Care services are through:
  1. Veterans Administration Caregiving Program
  2. Medicaid Personal Care Program
  3. Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver Program
  4. Lighthouse Program

KVSS Family Caregiver Program is currently accepting applications for in-home Respite caregivers throughout Kanawha County that give relief to the patients' full-time caregivers, whether family member or friends. KVSS trained Respite staff can come into the loved one's home and let the caregiver run errands, go to work, or simply get rest. A "Plan of Care" is developed according to the personality and interests so that the time is stimulating and rewarding. Respite services are available for those who need only minimal physical assistance. Days and hours are determined on an individual basis depending on the need and availability of hours of the program and staff. There are 2 respite programs available: One for those with Alzheimer's or any other physician diagnosed dementia and one for those who do not have a diagnosis.
